An Essential Road Map for Anyone Leaving a Cult or Church
There are 3000 to 5000 cults in America alone and many more worldwide–although few groups admit to being cults. For anyone leaving a church or one of these cults, the journey out can be fraught with landmines. Leaving often means giving up not just membership in a group, but also a world view, a community of friends, a mission, and even a daily routine. Although many thousands of people leave such groups each year, helpful resources are surprisingly scarce. Few therapists have been trained to support former cult members. Most people on the outside simply don’t understand how easy it is to get into a cult, or how difficult to get out.
The Leave the Cult Handbook offers first aid to those who want to untangle the confusion about what really went on in their group and who need to figure out where they’re headed now. |
